To this purpose papyrological and epigraphic documents with musical notation are investigated (and in the Appendix a full list of the uses is provided); the controversial signs of three important Ptolemaic papyri (P. Stras.W.G. 304-307r, P. Dryton 50, P. Berol. inv. 9771) with lyrical texts and no musical notation nor colometry are discussed, and some new interpretative proposals are put forward.
