A preconditioner for generalized saddle-point problems based on the Hermitian and Skew-Hermitian splitting (HSS) is described. The preconditioner is used with GM-RES in the solution of finite element discretizations of the steady-state Oseen (linearized Navier-Stokes) equations. The behavior of the preconditioner with respect to problem parameters like mesh size and viscosity is illustrated by means of a few numerical experi ments.
