Il magistero di Pietro Giordani nello studio e nell'edizione dei volgarizzamenti trecenteschi

The contribution analyses the historical role of Pietro Giordani in the study and edition of 14th-century vernaculars, offering a collection of materials on these texts traceable in the Piacenza man's published writings, enriched by the inclusion of some unpublished materials. For each document identified, an account is provided of the extant editions and studies on the cited texts available at the time. The presentation of the materials is divided into three sections: the first includes the passages relating to the vernaculars present in the letters dedicated to the literary canon, the formation of the ideal writer and reading suggestions; the second gathers the writings in which Giordani describes and applies the criteria for a correct edition of the vernaculars; and the third and final section focuses on the letters that allow us to reconstruct Giordani's role in the publishing initiatives linked to 14th-century translations.

Il contributo analizza il ruolo storico di Pietro Giordani nello studio e nell’edizione dei volgarizzamenti trecenteschi, offrendo una raccolta dei materiali relativi a tali testi rintracciabili negli scritti editi del piacentino, arricchita dall’inclusione di alcuni materiali inediti. Per ciascun documento individuato, viene fornito un resoconto delle edizioni e degli studi sui testi citati disponibili all’epoca. La presentazione dei materiali si articola in tre sezioni: la prima comprende i passi relativi ai volgarizzamenti presenti nelle lettere dedicate al canone letterario, alla formazione dello scrittore ideale e ai consigli di lettura; la seconda raccoglie gli scritti in cui Giordani descrive e applica i criteri per una corretta edizione dei volgarizzamenti; la terza e ultima sezione si concentra sulle lettere che permettono di ricostruire il ruolo di Giordani nelle iniziative editoriali legate alle traduzioni trecentesche.
