Since the late 1970s, the narrative of limits to growth has been replaced by the narrative of growth of limits, in the sense of their receding into the horizon thanks to technical innovation continually stimulated by market competition. The logic behind this transformation has traced a deep furrow in the fabric of society, as indicates the change undergone by two crucial institutions such as trust and responsibility, along with the status of truth and of reality itself. In order to analyse these changes, the contribution begins by dwelling on the concepts of trust and responsibility, and then assesses the impact of the growing social salience of uncertainty, the ultimate outcome of which can be seen in anticipatory approaches that clearly depart from the governing logic of the modern tradition. It then turns to the notions of pseudoscience and post-truth, showing how in the framework thus sketched it is perhaps more appropriate to speak of post-reality, and to how this impinges on trust and responsibility with long-term outcomes that are difficult to assess.

Abstract
It then turns to the notions of pseudoscience and post-truth, showing how in the framework thus sketched it is perhaps more appropriate to speak of post-reality, and to how this impinges on trust and responsibility with long-term outcomes that are difficult to assess.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
