Tino di Camaino’s altar-arche for San Ranieri, one of the most well-known monuments realized for the Cathedral in Pisa at the beginning of the 14th century, provides an opportunity to identify certain inattentions in studies that have not dedicated themselves enough to the topographical as- pects of historical reconstructions. By re-reading three groups of documents, one understands that the tomb should not be included among the monuments originally placed in the southern areas of the building, that is, among those drawn southwards by urban spatiality. In the complex balance between this and liturgical topography, it was the latter that ultimately prevailed
