Che cos’è la transizione giusta? : un quesito e un percorso di ricerca

What is just transition? A question and a research path - In this chapter, the issue of just transition is first framed in the context of the ecological crisis, as a systemic crisis that poses dramatic challenges to today’s society. The concept of just transition itself is then analysed – the way in which it is defined. Given that the literature devotes a great deal of attention to the adjective “just”, it is worth focusing more on the noun “transition”, trying to account for its meaning and the reasons for its success. The next step is to discuss the logic of the research carried out, beginning with the distinction between initiatives promoted “from above” and initiatives promoted “from below”. As discussed, this is an ideal-typical distinction, but one that helps to grasp the differences that can be found in industrial transition processes, in terms of how they are conceived and implemented and the positions consequently taken by the actors involved. The design and method of the research are then presented. The final step is to briefly illustrate the content of the other chapters, each of which is dedicated to the analysis of salient aspects of the events analysed.
