Conclusioni

The chapter summarises the investigation by highlighting the key points of the transition processes that the case studies have brought to light: from industrial history to the construction of alliances; from the role of public decision-makers, trade unions, technicians and technology, the political and economic context, and the time factor, to the relationship between transition processes “from above” and “from below”. A checklist is also proposed as a basis for a “Transition Guide” which further research could seek to develop. The list summarises the findings of the research on the key factors for achieving industrial transition.
