This article investigates ancient glyptic objects dating between the 2nd and the 1st centuries B.C. and representing soldiers fighting over the body of a dead companion. In so doing, the aim of this contribution is to identify images and ideas that may help to better understand the inventio of the well-known Pasquino iconographic schema. The seriality of this iconography, its wide distribution, and the different stylistic and technical levels represented provide the opportunity of collecting many glyptic finds with similar subjects and thus establishing a narrative sequence of scenes. Concerning this sequence, the Pasquino iconography reveals its innovative meaning, which is related to internal composition, as well as to relationships within the proposed sequence.
