Leggi di Taso riguardanti il vino e le vigne

Engraved on this epigraph from Thasos are two laws promulgated within a short period of time between the end of the fifth and the beginning of the fourth century BC. Both deal with viticulture and the production of and trade in wine, a subject that is not new in Thasian legislation and which must have represented an important economic sector for the island. It seems clear that the main purpose of these laws was to prevent fraud concerning quantity, quality or terms of sale of the wine, although the loss of large sections of the inscription makes a complete understanding difficult.

Su questa epigrafe proveniente da Taso sono incise due leggi promulgate a breve distanza l’una dell’altra fra la fine del V e l’inizio del IV secolo a.C. Entrambe trattano della viticoltura e degli aspetti legati alla produzione e al commercio del vino, tema non nuovo nella legislazione tasia e che doveva rappresentare un settore economico rilevante per l’isola. Sembra chiaro che lo scopo principale di queste leggi fosse di impedire frodi riguardanti la quantità, la qualità o le modalità di vendita del vino, anche se la perdita di corpose sezioni dell’iscrizione rende difficoltoso un inquadramento preciso.
