This article studies the world of migrant labour through the analysis of judicial sources produced by the labour courts (conseil de prud’hommes) of the Seine department during the interwar period. The aim is to determine whether Italian workers were claiming the social rights being progressively introduced into French legislation at that time. Who were the migrants who turned to the prud’hommes? What rights were they claiming through their legal action? To answer these questions, the judicial sources are studied here through quantitative methodologies rarely used until now in research on civil and commercial justice.
