Marx’s Lives: Ideological and Political Uses of a Biography · In this article I study the most important Marx’s biographies and I focus on the profound differences between them. It is not enough to mention the progressive discover of Marx’s manuscripts, notebooks and letters to explain so discrepant biographies. The same life can be represented in different ways because the biographer’s theoretical and political positions are involved. Every biography is autobiog- raphy. So, Marx’s biography was a field of ideological and political battle inside and outside of the marxism. Actually, for a political thinker as Marx, I suppose that a «reductionist» tendency prevails, supporting that biographical experience is the most important passkey to understand the thought.
