This paper discusses the textual and metrical problems of Euripides’ Helen 639-42. These verses belong to a section of the recognition duet between Helen and Menelaus, which is handed down not only by the medieval manuscripts L and P (XIV sec.) but also by an ancient witness, P. Oxy. 2336 (1st century BC). This paper reconsiders the relation between medieval manuscripts and P. Oxy. 2336, which has a different text at v. 640 and probably at vv. 641a-b. A new reconstruction of the papyrus is proposed for v. 641b.

Abstract
This paper discusses the textual and metrical problems of Euripides’ Helen 639-42. These verses belong to a section of the recognition duet between Helen and Menelaus, which is handed down not only by the medieval manuscripts L and P (XIV sec.) but also by an ancient witness, P. Oxy. 2336 (1st century BC). This paper reconsiders the relation between medieval manuscripts and P. Oxy. 2336, which has a different text at v. 640 and probably at vv. 641a-b. A new reconstruction of the papyrus is proposed for v. 641b.File in questo prodotto:
