Lo scavo dell’altare del tempio D (saggio 6)

This paper presents the results of archaeological investi- gations conducted in 2022 at the altar of Temple D. Excavation activi- ties focused on the area where the altar’s mensa was situated. The layers yielded artefacts from the Archaic and Classical periods, including frag- mentary votive offerings such as ceramic vessels and terracotta figurines. Stratigraphic investigations led not only to a better understanding of the construction techniques employed in the Classical-era altar, but also to the identification of an earlier religious use of the area during the Archaic period.

Il presente lavoro presenta i risultati delle indagini archeologiche condotte nel 2022 presso l'altare del Tempio D. Le attività di scavo si sono concentrate nell'area in cui era situata la mensa dell'altare. Gli strati hanno restituito manufatti di epoca arcaica e classica, tra cui offerte votive frammentarie come vasi in ceramica e statuette in terracotta. Le indagini stratigrafiche hanno permesso, da un lato, di comprendere meglio le tecniche di costruzione dell'altare di epoca classica e, dall'altro, di identificare un precedente uso religioso dell'area durante il periodo arcaico.
