The utility of power resources approach lies in its meso level of analysis between structure and action, and in the empirical operationalizability of its concepts. Its popularity is linked to indications of labour power resurgence, but the approach should avoid normative traps in which the «trade union revitalisation» one had fallen. The approach is also to gain from contributions on the diversity of labour, which is increasingly relevant politically, but remains at a different level of abstraction from critical race theory and intersectionality.

Abstract

The utility of power resources approach lies in its meso level of analysis between structure and action, and in the empirical operationalizability of its concepts. Its popularity is linked to indications of labour power resurgence, but the approach should avoid normative traps in which the «trade union revitalisation» one had fallen. The approach is also to gain from contributions on the diversity of labour, which is increasingly relevant politically, but remains at a different level of abstraction from critical race theory and intersectionality.
