This paper aims to analyse the tradition of the medieval Italian translations of the Régime du corps, a medical treatise originally written in French by Aldobrandino of Siena before 1257. The Italian tradition, a particularly complex one, is composed of two main translations (an anonymous translation attributed to a certain Maestro Pero and Zucchero Bencivenni’s Santà del corpo), from which, as a result of mutual contamination or reworking, two further translations were derived. The present paper describes this tradition as a whole, focussing on the translation transmitted by the Laurenziana’s manuscripts Pluteo LXXIII.50 and Acquisti e Doni 800, as well as by the manuscripts 7-6-23, from the Colombina Library of Seville, and SC. MS. 36, from the Gambalunga Library of Rimini. Examples taken from our collation, based on the whole set of translations, are presented here alongside a detailed examination of variants and lexicon. An appendix lists the currently known manuscripts of all Italian translations.

Abstract
An appendix lists the currently known manuscripts of all Italian translations.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
