The article presents a new witness, the manuscript Ath. Ivir. 186, of the first of the two poems in dodecasyllables composed by Ioasaph of Ephesos for the death of John Notaras (1411 or 1412), until now known only from the manuscript Urb. gr. 134; a new critical edition of the poem is therefore provided, accompanied by the first Italian translation and a commentary on the variae lectiones of the new witness.
