Agrigento. Lo scavo all’angolo NordEst e nel settore SudEst del Tempio D (Saggi 10, 14)

The 2023 excavation campaign concentrated on two areas in close proximity to Temple D. Trench 10 was excavated in the north-eastern corner of the naos with the aim of investigating the relationship between the staircase located in front of the temple’s eastern façade and the stereobate, and to verify the existence of a north-south oriented wall depicted in 19th century site plans and pictures. Trench 14 investigated the south-eastern sector of the sacred building with the aim of revealing the construction phases associated with the building of Temple D.

La campagna di scavo del 2023 si è concentrata su due aree situate in prossimità del Tempio D. Il saggio 10 è stato effettuato nell’angolo nord-orientale del naos con l’obiettivo di indagare il rapporto tra la scala situata di fronte alla facciata orientale del tempio e lo stereobate, e di verificare l’esistenza di un muro orientato in senso Nord-Sud, raffigurato nelle piante e nelle vedute del sito del XIX secolo. Il saggio 14 ha indagato il settore sud-orientale dell’edificio sacro, con l’obiettivo di mettere in luce le fasi costruttive legate alla costruzione del Tempio D.
