This article presents a previously unknown manuscript of Torquato Tasso’s Rime, housed at the Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana under shelfmark Y 241 sup. The codex, unrelated to Pinelli’s collection, contains a selection of sixteenth-century lyric poetry, among which several compositions by Tasso – mostly sonnets – stand out. The correspondence between this and other testimonies, particularly with Aldo Manuzio the Younger’s annotated copy of the 1581 edition of Rime, traces these texts back to an early redactional phase, thus making the manuscript an interesting testimony for the study of the textual tradition of Tasso’s Rime.

Abstract
This article presents a previously unknown manuscript of Torquato Tasso’s Rime, housed at the Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana under shelfmark Y 241 sup. The codex, unrelated to Pinelli’s collection, contains a selection of sixteenth-century lyric poetry, among which several compositions by Tasso – mostly sonnets – stand out. The correspondence between this and other testimonies, particularly with Aldo Manuzio the Younger’s annotated copy of the 1581 edition of Rime, traces these texts back to an early redactional phase, thus making the manuscript an interesting testimony for the study of the textual tradition of Tasso’s Rime.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
