In ‘The “Post-truth” Crisis, the Value of Truth, and the Substantivist-Deflationist Debate’, Gila Sher attempts to account for truth as an intrinsic human value. We argue that—to reach her goal—she adopts a genealogical perspective. We show that such a methodology yields problematic implications for the overall success of her argument: the lack of precision allows for an indefinite variance of genealogies, and the origin of truth seems unrelated to its inherent nature.

Abstract
In ‘The “Post-truth” Crisis, the Value of Truth, and the Substantivist-Deflationist Debate’, Gila Sher attempts to account for truth as an intrinsic human value. We argue that—to reach her goal—she adopts a genealogical perspective. We show that such a methodology yields problematic implications for the overall success of her argument: the lack of precision allows for an indefinite variance of genealogies, and the origin of truth seems unrelated to its inherent nature.File in questo prodotto:
