Abstract

We present a search for B-0 decays to charmless final states involving an eta meson, a charged pion, and a second charged pion or kaon. The data sample corresponds to 383 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs collected with the BABAR detector operating at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory at SLAC. We find no significant signals and determine the following 90% C.L. upper limits: B(B-0 -> a(0)(-) pi(+)) x B(a(0)(-) -> eta pi(-)) < 3.1 x 10(-6), B(B-0 -> a(0)(-) K+) x B(a(0)(-) -> eta pi(-)) < 1.9 x 10(-6), B(B-0 -> a(0)(1450)(-) pi(+)) x B(a(0)(1450)(-) -> eta pi(-)) < 2.3 x 10(-6), B(B-0 -> a(0)(1450)(-) K+) x B(a(0)(1450)(-) -> eta pi(-)) < 3.1 x 10(-6), B(B-0 -> eta rho(0)) < 1.5 x 10(-6), and B(B-0 -> eta f(0)(980)) x B(f(0)(980) -> pi(+) pi(-)) < 0.4 x 10(-6).
