After a survey of the main proposals about the validity of Porson's law for lyric meters of Greek poetry, the paper proposes a revision of the thesis of L. The analysis of word-end after long anceps seems to exclude the existence of fixed caesurae and of a metrical bridge such as Porson's law and recommends caution in textual intervention.

Abstract
After a survey of the main proposals about the validity of Porson's law for lyric meters of Greek poetry, the paper proposes a revision of the thesis of L. Parker about lyric iambics (CQ n.s. 16, 1966, 1-26), with particular reference to Aeschylean lyric. The analysis of word-end after long anceps seems to exclude the existence of fixed caesurae and of a metrical bridge such as Porson's law and recommends caution in textual intervention.File in questo prodotto:
