The problem of defining aesthetic object seems to represent a real challenge to part of twentieth century's french thought: for this reason it is there in each and every reflection on the nature of aesthetic facts. The essay sketches out a critical and bibliographic history of this aesthetic categorie from Mikel Dufrenne's Phénoménologie de l'expérience esthétique (1952), to Jean-Marie Schaeffer's Objets esthétiques (2004).
