Abstract

We study the microcavity effect on energy transfer from a donor to an acceptor via the electromagnetic field, taking into account the modification of the optical properties of the microcavity due to the presence of absorbing acceptors, analyzing different cases that may be realized depending on the characteristics of the acceptor absorption band, and the role of different dissipative processes. We also comment on the interpretation of a recent experiment by Andrew and Barnes, Science 290, 785 (2000).
