This paper traces the history of the conjecture in Paus. IX 5,11 attributed to Richard Porson. Thanks to a comparison with titles attested for other poems, it also offers textual arguments in support of the correction, in the same passage, of the title Oedipodea from the accusative neuter plural into the accusative feminine singular.
