The essay aims to examine the marginal note in which the English humanist Gabriel Harvey mentions the debate, held in Oxford in 1583, between the Italian philosopher Giordano Bruno and the theologian John Underhill. The note is placed in the context of a research of new methods of organization of knowledge and it shows how, in the opinion of an eclectic intellectual such as Harvey, Bruno’s capability of creating innovative conceptual maps was particularly interesting.
