Umberto Fiori's writing has always been characterized by un unceasing attention to landscapes, both natural and industrial. This paper proposes a theoretical reinterpretation of his most famous collections, from Case (1986) to Il cognoscente (2019), from the perspective of ecocriticism. Through the analysis of a large sample of examples, I will try to show affinities and divergences between his descriptions of nature or animal kingdom and this field of study.

Abstract

Umberto Fiori's writing has always been characterized by un unceasing attention to landscapes, both natural and industrial. This paper proposes a theoretical reinterpretation of his most famous collections, from Case (1986) to Il cognoscente (2019), from the perspective of ecocriticism. Through the analysis of a large sample of examples, I will try to show affinities and divergences between his descriptions of nature or animal kingdom and this field of study.
