The aim of this essay is the analysis of the role and importance, in the Italian philosophical culture, of Giovanni Santinello, to whom we owe the most important philosophical research on the history of historiography of the second half of the XX century. This article is centered on Santinello’s works on the Renaissance, in which he gives special attention to Veneto (and particularly to Padua), as well as to the relation between Italian Renaissance and Northern European Renaissance.
